7Zip.EXE - Example of a Freeware Tool to Create .ZIP files (archives)

Please send all files (email attachments etc) to me zipped up.

There are many tools that create zip archives which have these advantages:

• You may have many files you wish to send to someone but its easier to give them a single file (nothing gets lost).

• The files are compressed to a fraction of their normal size.

• If a file gets corrupted I will know about it so if it gets to me intact then I know its contents are unchanged.

• International and Code page issues will not alter the files.

• ASCII / UNICODE issues will not alter the files.

• Line wrapping issues will not alter the files.

The free "7zip" program (http://www.7-zip.org/) installs explorer extensions that allow you to right click on files an folders and create a ".zip" file. You can also drag and drop files onto a "7zip" window.
