\->Introduction->Some User Feedback

Thank you to those people who send me feedback of their experiences, it helps make MAKEMSI a better tool. I have recently decided to dedicate a page in the manual for some feedback quotes as I think it is useful in understanding MAKEMSI and how it can help.

From Chris Mitchell (21 April 2009)

Excellent tool. Bit daunting at first. No idea what I was doing. But after only a few minutes ripping the tryme examples apart I had a working installer (after months of getting nowhere). Genius.

From Christoph Mockenhaupt (17 July 2008 - makemsi post)

I'm relatively new to the whole windows installer subject. Presently my company is migrating from InstallShield to something else (tm) ;)

After evaluating WIX I found MakeMSI... and it is great! Even if it was a bit complicated for me at the beginning (learning MakeMSI, PPWIZARD, rexx, and I'm not a geek in writing VBS either) it was worth it.

Now, the Installer does nearly everthing the old one did (and being capable of doing rollback which isn't true for the old one). Besides that, it is about 10 times faster and the package is three times smaller than before.

And it fits in our build environment. What else could one want? I just want to say thank you.

From youngteam (2 May 2008 - edugeek post)

Thanks for this fantastic piece of software, it's just what we've been after.

From soraz (26 March 2008 - Comment on Setup and Deployment Projects)

Very happy with MAKEMSI. Very useful. Fully featured, everything is in a nice easy script file.

Had many problems with Installshields UI fugging up the installation because it “Automatically” tried to resolve references. When a reference broke, it would silently just omit that component from the installation. Thank you very much. Also, it was very very heavy handed UI wise. Tons of views and boxes to go through just to add a single file for the next version of your program.

From William G. Graves (17 September 2007)

This is a fantastic bit of work you have done. It does take a little effort to get going but man o man you can do a lot with it.

From Les Matheson (3 October 2006)

I just downloaded and installed MakeMSI. I have to say there is more useful stuff in this package than anyone has a right to expect! Good work.

From David (26 May 2006)

I just want to state that I think MakeMSI is a terrific product. A few months ago I introduced MakeMSI to the company I work for, and it is now our standard packaging tool for internal software deployment. We reviewed other well-known MSI products, some of them fairly expensive, but MakeMSI clearly provided the best solution for us.

From Andrew Kingston (13 February 2006)

I've been playing with makemsi in the last week, and have had great success customising a "Visual Studio Installer" VB package - MakeMSI rocks! I found the PPWizard syntax slightly confusing at first, but with your documentation and abundant samples it was real easy to learn.

From Larry Dick (20 April 2005)

I think MAKEMSI is going to save my life. I've fiddled with 2 dozen ORCA commands on each release of my software until I could cry.

From Sean (26 Feb 2005)

I have been playing with MakeMsi for a week or so to modify our setups that are generated by installshield. MakeMsi is a vast improvement over anything else I found to do this, especially hand editing via Orca. Thank you Dennis for all your hard work.

From Christian Schnell (23 Feb 2005)

First of all I want to congratulate you to your really brilliant MAKEMSI framework, thank you so much for your work. Even though I didn't have any knowledge of rexx, ppwizard, msi or vbscript I was able to put together a nice setup using MAKEMSI in only three days, MAKEMSI's error reports where MOST helpful there.
