Regular Expression Tester

This is a simple tool which allows you to test what you believe to be a valid regular expression against a sequence of characters and it will confirm whether you have got it right.

MAKEMSI uses regular expressions in at least these features:

• The "DialogPreview" command.
• The "MsiValFilter" command.
• The "TableExportToIdt" command.

The tool will remember your last tested values and restore these when you restart the tool. If a regular expression fails to match it will try a few simple things to see if you made any really simple mistakes.

The buttons at the top are an attempt to make it simple for beginners to build an expression and to serve as reminders for the characters that need to be escaped. They append the codes to the end of the string (let me know if you know how to tell what the current position might be!).
