This is some sort of bug in the merge module, the "FixMergeModules.MM" sample has been designed to correct one such issue with badly written Visual Studio .NET merge modules.

MAKEMSI has code to try to detect this error and the "MERGEMOD_COMPONENT_TARGETDIR_ERRORS_FATAL" macro determines whether the build fails or an error message goes into the HTML report when it is detected.
